ATSUKO Lab
ART × DESIGN
ATSUKO lab by artist Atsuko Sasaki
Things that are necessary in our daily lives, things that mark the passage of time.
"Objects" that are inorganically designed by people are fixed in their respective spaces.
When I look at them, they seem simple and cool, yet somehow cold and deprived of freedom.
What if objects, as objects, had more of a will of their own and sought out a comfortable place to live? They were like living things.
Things that have the "function and will" to communicate with humans and live together.
I wonder if I can express these things through organic shapes and mediums.
From the perspective of the fusion of art and design, we propose a new way of relating people to things.
Nature has provided such perfect beauty, what more can man create?
With these feelings in mind, we use beautiful wool and natural materials to
Using materials that do not pollute the environment and can be returned to the soil,
I only make things that I truly want to use myself, things that I am particular about and that I cannot be satisfied with by other products on the market.
Spread your wings and be free
And strong, beautiful and flexible.

About Felt
Features, characteristics
- Wool has a high moisture absorption capacity and absorbs and releases water vapor depending on the humidity outside.
This makes it a wonderful natural material that keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
- The cuticle has the property of repelling water droplets, so water-soluble dirt does not easily penetrate, making it difficult for dirt to stick to the cuticle.
- Because the fibers are arranged in coiled molecular chains, the material is elastic, wrinkle-resistant, and does not easily lose its shape.
- Because it is made of protein, it contains a lot of nitrogen and moisture, so it does not melt when exposed to heat and will stop burning if the flame is removed.
That's why it's also used in firefighting suits and aircraft interiors.
Environmentally friendly
- Sheep are sheared once a year, so they can be harvested repeatedly.
・It is decomposed by microorganisms and returned to the soil.
Maintenance
-As there is a possibility that the product may be eaten by insects, we recommend using an insect repellent when storing it for the season.
*Pilling may occur during use due to friction. Please cut off pilling with scissors or a lint remover.
・Products made from cut machine-woven felt will not fray, however, some fuzz will fall off from the cut edges when you first start using them.
At ATSUKO lab, we use wool felt fabric and polyester felt fabric in a way that allows you to take advantage of the unique characteristics of each material.
I use different ones depending on the product.
